WHAT IS COMMITMENT?

Earlier this year we wrote an article “Resolutions vs. Commitment”. Today we want to talk a bit further about the term Commitment. If you’re not committed to self improvement….you’ll never see your full potential.

For those of you who follow my writings, I like to use the definitions of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, especially for a misunderstood subject such as this. Commitment means different things to different folks. Here is what Wikipedia says:

“Commitment means to show loyalty, duty or pledge to something or someone, and can refer to:

• Personal commitment, interaction dominated by obligations. These obligations may be mutual, or self-imposed, or explicitly stated, or may not. Distinction is often made between commitment as a member of an organization (such as a sporting team, a religion, or as an employee), and a personal commitment, which is often a pledge or promise to ones’ self for personal growth.

• Brand commitment refers to the strength of the relationship between consumers (or customers) and a particular brand (or service).

• Organizational commitment can mean something pledged by an organization as opposed to its members.

• In poker, it means that someone will do better by staying in a hand no matter what (even if he probably doesn’t have the best hand, he would still win more money by betting all his chips), rather than folding”.

Commitment to success of a corporation is imperative, however, commitment is even more important for an individual. The most important factor for individual success is commitment. Commitment sparks action….then results will follow. There are two fundamental aspects of commitment we should consider.

The first is having a strong conviction of your beliefs. The old saying “If you don’t stand for something…you’ll fall for anything” is so true here. I read recently as one writer said it best…commitment is “persistence with a purpose”.

The second important factor is the faithful adherence to those beliefs and is represented by your behavior.

One writer put it perfectly….”It is the strength of these commitments, religiously followed, that led to their business success.”

We must be committed to a set of personal values, principles and beliefs. We must have a personal vision and purpose for what we are about to commit to. In our personal life we must have a inherent personal integrity and self confidence. We must have a personal goal for self improvement and follow that goal until we are comfortable with the outcome of our goal.

If we are in business we must remember that “everyone is a customer to someone else.” As a business owner you must keep our customers as the number one priority, because without customers our business is absolutely nothing. You must have a marketable product and stand behind that product or service without reservations. If we have employees in our organization, you must treat them with respect, by challenging them and giving them feedback on a job well done. Many times our employee is the one who are on the frontline having the contact with a potential client. “Commitment is a two-way street. You only get it if you’re willing to give it.”

Being committed and staying committed is no easy task. “Wavering commitment could be considered as no commitment at all”. If you’re really committed and genuine in that commitment it will always stand the test of time. Commitments will change as time goes on. Current goals may have to be revamped or refined. You may have to take some form of risk to make the changes necessary to fulfill your commitments. Be willing to improve your goals and expectations to accomplish the end results. Keep your commitment in your fore front of your heart and mind and the things you always dreamed about will become a reality.

The combination of supporting behavior and improving behavior are the ingredients of true commitment. If these two issues are separated neither will sustain your overall commitment. Commitment is a personal thing that each of us must face everyday. Being committed and staying committed is a mindset that each of us must address in our lives if we want to become a success.

There are many ways to liven up an HTML newsletter, and the following four ways are guaranteed to keep the customers wanting to come back again and again to find out what is in the next issue.

First, always keep the content fresh and write it with the reader in mind. When companies write newsletters that are primarily focused on the product, they are forcing a hard sell to the reader. If they consider that the reader may want to know more about how the product is used, or how it makes their lives easier, it will go a long way to brining the customer into the idea of buying sooner than later. It is possible to outsource the newsletter content to a freelance writer or a series of writers. As long as an outside person is able to capture the voice of the company, the content being written by someone outside of the employee marketing department is not a problem.

Second, use real life situations to describe how the product is to be used. If a company has a product and the customer only has access to a photo of it online, then the customer may not be able to easily imagine how to best utilize the product. It is possible to use customer testimonials, and survey customers to see how they have had interesting experiences using the product. If the customers see other people using the product, the customer gets an idea of how that particular product will solve their problem. It will also create value for the customers, and make them less hesitant to buy the product.

Third, give the customer links to ancillary information. Many times the customer has a question while reading the content of the company newsletter. By offering hyperlinks to definitions or to other pages, the content is easily read without leaving the landing page.

If the customer has a question, and is able to find an answer right on the page being read, it keeps the customer on the page longer. For example, if a company is selling vitamins or health food related supplements, and mentions the names of unfamiliar ingredients, the customers would benefit from a hyperlink that provided a general definition of the terms. This way, the customer is able to keep reading and get the most out of the content without navigating away from the main page.

Fourth, it is helpful if the page is broken up into sections, and the newsletter contains bullet points and other short versions of text. The readers will tire of reading straight text, written like a novel. If the reader also has access to text with bullet points, numbered lists, and interesting photos and graphics – they will read with more interest and not be bored by the layout of the page. The attention span of most people is very short. There are so many other obligations competing for their attention. If the salient points are summarized in bullet points, the reader can find this information quickly and make the best decision to buy the product advertised.

Skills in marketing are necessary to having success on the internet these days. Unfortunately, many MLM and network marketing companies train their new members to make a list of their family and friends, do cold calls, purchase leads, and many more marketing methods, that in all honesty, don’t work for most people. Although, these marketing strategies have worked for a number of folks, using this style of marketing requires you to know how to sell, communicate, deal with rejection, work long hours talking to individuals who are not interested in what you have to offer. But, even using the internet is not the total solution to experiencing success in your business opportunity. Just like offline marketing, online marketing does require a lot of work, at least in the beginning. The work I am referring to is going through the growing pains of learning new online marketing skills. Once again, if you are not willing to be open to learning new skills, the results of building your business online will end up being just like the results you experienced in marketing your business offline. Without marketing skills, you have no value to offer others who need help in building their business. This means no leads and without leads, you have no money or a home business, thus, more failure.

If you have made the decision to develop your business opportunity using the internet, there are a few principles you need to apply. First, I ask you to take a look at your work ethics. How badly do you want success in your business and what are you willing to do to become a successful entrepreneur? The process of building a business is not going to be easy. You will encounter frustration, mistakes, and yes, even failure. But in saying this, I want to stress that perseverance is the name of the game in building a successful business. Either you have it or you don’t. If you don’t, then I suggest you quit right now and work on your mindset. There are those who have done it, but those individuals are the exception, not the rule. Your best bet is to seek out a marketing system of some sort that will teach you, (1) how to generate mlm leads online, and (2) how to make money online even if many of those leads say no to your business opportunity, you can still monetize them. This will require you to establish a sales funnel. A sales funnel is a method by which you generate leads, capture their information, build a relationship with those leads, and then market to those leads, either your opportunity, the products of your opportunity, or some other affiliate products; such as, Mike Dillard’s network marketing products.

What are the benefits of joining a marketing system as opposed to just going it on your own. First, there is the learning curve. Learning how to market online alone takes longer for most people. With a marketing system, you already have available to you the tools and trainings that you need. It is not necessary to go treasure hunting to learn you marketing skills. Everything is provided for you in the online marketing system, including the sales funnel. Going out alone, most people will have no idea what a sales funnel is nor will they have any idea on how to build one. This will definitely slow down the money making process because it is through the sales funnel that you generate an income. Once you have a sales funnel, you need to learn how to generate mlm leads. Again, if you are doing this on your own, then you will probably have to look on the internet to find ways to generate leads online. With a marketing system, the trainings are already setup for you. Most of these training systems have the trainings in video format, which is great for you because you can watch them at any time and do this on your own schedule. You will also have the opportunity to attend live webinars and lastly, since you are a member of a marketing system, you have access to a community of folks, many of whom are willing to help you out if you are having difficulty in learning some of the materials provided in the online training system.

So, what kinds of marketing strategies can you learn by using a marketing system. Some of the marketing techniques you will learn include the following:

1. Setting up a profile in FaceBook, MySpace, LinkedIn, and Twitter the right way so that you attract a highly targeted group of individuals.
2. Creating press releases and articles to generate endless mlm leads.
3. Setting up a blog the right way to create more leads.
4. Applying search engine optimization (SEO) to get your articles, press releases, blog, etc ranked on the first page of Google, Yahoo, MSN, and other search engines, to generate tons of leads.
